A fence with a pool latch on the gate is all you need for insurance purposes. That's what I have and have never had any problem obtaining insurance.

The pool is cleaned once a week. No terrible problems with bugs, though I'm sure I get more than someone with a screen.

I don't want a screen-in. I like the way the pool blends into the backyard and becomes a part of it. Besides, in a hurricane, a screen enclosure simply means ripped screens or a destroyed enclosure... and they can be MEGA bucks to replace.

Others may disagree, but that's my $0.02
Completely agree with you. We have a navigator pool cleaner. Costs $450.00 and keeps the pool spotless. We never do anything but get the water tested at the local pool store and add salt or acid once in a while.

We have no screen..but paver decking and lagoon style pool with natural stone grotto and coping looking over 300 acres of forested land. There is no way I would ruin this view with a screen.

Haha..it's all good, we did just look at a home for sale this past weekend that has a beautiful lake view...with a pool and no screen room (we can always add that later) and I question the addition of a screen that might ruin the view, HOWEVER, I want to USE the pool and being on a lake, I am certain to be eaten alive by bugs....lol! So, we can always play that one by ear should the bank come to their senses and lower their asking price.

It's best to have an enclosure if you're going to have a pool. I think a screened in area is a necessity whether you have a pool or not...mosquitoes can be rough.
