No, man. It got worse after Katrina, a LOT worse. Yes, Orlando was no rosebed before Katrina, but after it, we cannot even get a weather report before hearing about at least 1 murder and several robberies, burglaries per day.

Katrina people have proven themselves in every city they go to: they cause local crime to multiply by the hundreds.

I read in a news report once that the effect of Katrina on Florida was "marginal" whereas places such as Georgia, North Carolina and Texas felt the most.

One explanation given was that people tend to move to places where housing is more affordable. Florida homes aren't that affordable if you compare to other markets such as NC, TX etc.

Another thing, if I suffered like those people in N.O., the last place I'd go to would be one prone to have hurricanes like Florida. I'd be buying a cabin in a mountain somewhere.
