How is the job market for restaurant management in the Orlando area? I'm sure there is a great demand for hourly help, but what about salaried?

Thanks

the only salaried jobs I have ever heard of in restaurants are the managment. My friend is a shift manager at Perkins and gets $400 a week - she has to suplement this with hosting a few days a week because there is a lot more money in the tips. I sugest tring to get into Disney's restuarants or even better are the event jobs.

Thanks for the fast response.

I should have specified more. I would be looking at full service, casual dining restaurants. I'm guessing that the Disney area would be a good bet, but I am not sure. I'm hoping someone can tell me what the demand is and what the pay scale is.

I have worked as a server for 15 years and now in rest. management. I much prefer serving.... Do you know about Disney / Universal restaurant jobs ? We would be moving down from Maryland and giving up the medical benefits(which I carry because my husband is self employed, - home improvements) would be hardest part about going back to serving. I hear Disney offers benefits...

Disney is stingy with benefits and pay. My sister does the call center restaurant reservations from Tampa call center and it pays 8.00 hr no benefits, only free admission 12 times year to disney parks for you and 3 other people. She only gets 20 hrs week employment. Dress code stinks also.

There is a lot of money to be made as a server in Orlando. I know people who average $140-$180 a night in tips. They work at a very nice, upscale restaurant on Sand Lake. There are many high-end eateries in that area and is known as "Restaurant Row". Mortons, Seasons 52, Roy's, Timpano Chophouse to name a few. Many offer benefits to servers, I know you have to wait 90 days at Timpano's. Not sure about the others.

I think there is more money to be made at the restaurants that cater to the "convention visitors" than the "tourists". Tourists tend to be on a budget, conventioneers splurge on food and DRINK while on a business trip. Stick to the better restaurants all along International Drive and Sand Lake Rd. Good luck!

I don't know about management pay, but I did a stint at a Denny's Restaurant, and the servers at Denny's on International Drive (big tourist area) were getting $600 to $650 a week. My neighbor does a swing shift at a full service, casual dining restaurant and gets $700 to $800 a week.
