ill be moving to orlando in may, right after graduation to start a new job with lockheed off of sand lake rd. Im trying to stay around the area if possible. Im looking for a 2bed/2bath apartment, <$900/mo. Ill be living by myself but would be havin guest thus the reason for the 2 bedrooms. I would like to stay in a very nice, and safe area. If you could name some apartment complexes around the area that you like. Ive been doing research online for the last 2 months using a variety of websites. just need a little more help. thanks

Don't know anything about that immediate area. My mother lives in Colonial Ridge Apartments about 10 miles drive from there; I'm not sure if you consider that close. It's gated and she pays 695 for a 2/2 apartment. She's been very happy there.

PS Don't forget Craig's List when searching for apartments.

In this area, avoid complexes on Orange Blossom Trail or in the general Florida Mall area. You should look in Hunters Creek, Conway, or close to downtown. These areas are nicer, but within a good commuting distance to the FL Mall area.

If you check out the Craigslist link posted above, you will see there are tons of apartments available, with great prices, ready for immediate occupancy. Put your stuff in storage and plan to stay in one of the extended stay hotels for a week. During that time, make a decision based on seeing the area first hand and what your commute will be like. As Wilshire said....stay clear of the OBT area. Once you look around, you'll come back on here and thank him for the advice.

This isn't my opinion speaking, I originally rented a place online in the OBT/Sand Lake area when I first moved to Orlando. It was awful. Sand Lake is really congested, so pick a direction after checking out the traffic patterns based on your work hours.
