We are for sure in a SlUMP when it comes to the housing market...
our house went up for sale about a month ago, right before they started talking about how bad the market was....But i still see people putting their homes up for sale...
And I know some of the homes are sure to go into Foreclosure...
its a sad state of affairs these days....
People Bitting off more then they can chew....and now having to pay for it!

Here are a few quotes from the FAR (Fl Association or Realtors) press realese:

"Statewide, sales of single-family existing homes totaled 10,779 last month compared to 14,080 homes sold in February 2006 for a 23 percent decrease."

"Florida’s median sales price for existing single-family homes in February was $235,500; a year ago, it was $242,500 for a 3 percent decrease."

Even this is misleading. Price per sq feet has gone down dramatically (so called McMansion effect.) Insentives by builders and homeowners (closing costs paid, many upgraded, hide real decrease.) Finally, this does not take into consideration FSBOs.

Best real numbers that matter when looking at the future are the number of homes for sale in a given month compared to the actual sales in that month. Based on that many areas in the state have a 24+ months supply. Some areas are at 37+ months. These are highest ever recorded.
