I am planning to relocate my family near Sanford in little over a year.We currently live in a smaller city in central new york with a population of 10,000 and change. We would like to move to a community of similar size with low crime and lots of parks for our kids to play. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is your price range? Since you have kids, I would imagine schools would be important. What size house? Land or not?

Sorry...

OP, My father lives in Sanford. I lived there for about 3 months and got out as fast as I could. You may love it though. Kali's Grandma, What part of Sanford do you consider " nice " ?

Lake Mary is a great city though if you want to go over one town.

There are nice parts of Sanford. EX: over by the mall and west of I4, Markham Woods Rd, downtown historic Sanford, off Lake Mary Blvd, to all the way by Lake Jessup. Lake Mary is a very nice neighboring town as is Longwood.

I agree with TNRyan. I lived in Sanford from 2003 - 2005 in a...well, let's just say less than desirable neighborhood near Seminole HS. I loved the Florida lifestyle, but the particular neighborhood I lived in was like a scene from "Boyz N The Hood." Tricked out cars, constant blasting car stereos...the whole nine yards. I would return to Florida in a heartbeat, and probably even to Seminole County...just not to Sanford. I don't know how much things have changed over the past few years, but from what I remember Lake Mary is very nice. Casselberry is a decent town too...not quite sure about the schools there though. Oviedo is another town that seemed nice but again I'm not too sure about the schools. If your heart is truly set on Sanford then be very careful and be sure to visit the area before you commit to moving anywhere...don't make the same mistake I did!! :-)

I definately agree with you about the area of Sanford that you lived in. Sanford is a pretty big place. Some of the places that I mentioned are about 4-5 miles away from that area. You just need to be careful like you said.

I had an opposite experience near SCC, Fleaworld and the Airport area mostly with out of control rednecks...

There are many nice places to live in Sanford/Lake Mary. Sanford wraps around Lake Mary and is much larger than Lake Mary. I have relocated 70 people in different areas of Sanford, Lake Mary, Oviedo, winter springs, Longwood over the last 3 years and all of them have been very satisfied. Please email me if you have any more questions Lois@loisbonacci.com I can be of help and have a great relocation package.
