Ok so I've never lived anywhere but NOVA (northern va) my entire life, and we have pool season here, pools open Memorial Day and close Labor day.

Orlando is generally pretty warm all year from what I understand, but do they have a pool season for public swimming pools?

Why do most pools have screens over them?

To keep the bugs out, to keep them cleaner, to keep them a little more private. State law says you either need a fence or pool screen, most people opt for the pool screen.

screen prevent you from being friends with the bugs... and it keeps the debris out of the pool. Those trees do tend to drop leaves.

I find many people think pools are expensive to keep up. Here is my take.

weekly or so you add a jug of chlorine and shock the pool. my system has an automatic feed for ch tablets I place 3 in there a week. tablets cost about $70 for a large bucket of them which tends to last me about a year. the jugs have gone up and are about $6.50 each.

A salt water pool i understand is cheaper and less trouble. requiring only salt which is cheap. it uses this to manufacture its own CHlorine.

Solar Heaters can extend the swim time on a pool where you can be in it up to December so you are only down a couple months. they can cost upwards of a few thousand.

Cleaning requires a brush down and shocking. so not much in other words.

open pools will get warmer than screened in ones. but they also get more debris. the Polaris are designed to remove leaves and such. they have over priced parts and cost around $500 new.

screens are so nice when it comes to protection from bugs. you can swim in the evening without issues.

to add a pool these days can easily run $60,000. It is much cheaper to buy a home with one. but the advances in pools may be worth building. With new cleaning systems, fiber optic lights, water falls and spas.

There is the cliff notes version of pools.
