Heathrow is WONDERFUL, but very very expensive. If you like the area, try Lake Mary, which is literally across the street from Heathrow and MUCH more affordable.

Please do yourself a favor... if you cannot afford either area, do NOT try to live in Orlando, MetroWest, Kissimmee, or Poinciana, ok? You will end up in some rundown ghetto and get robbed, killed, or worse. Orlando has become very violent and dirty.... so stick with the nice areas or don't move to the Orlando area at all.

The other ncie areas in the Orlando area are: Windermere, Winter Springs, Oviedo, Weikiva (near Winter Springs), Longwood, St Cloud, Mt Dora, and of course the slightly more expensive (but REALLY worth it) Maitland!

Just trying to put some reality on the table for you and others who want to move to Florida. Good luck!

Nirvana-Guy has great advice on other fantastic places to live! I would also reccommend a few beautiful subdivisions in Sanford (on the border of lake mary), one is called Lake Forest, one is called Magnolia Plantation, and also there is a brand new subdivision that is just unbelievable too! have you been to this area to look around yet? sometimes it is great to have a local take you around and show you the area for the day!

My husband works in Heathrow and we live in Altamonte Springs which isn't as expensive. We are now moving to St. Cloud and commuting 1 hour each way!

you can still get a great neighborhood and great home near heathrow! you just have to know where to look! 250,000 is still a lot of money!

Heathrow is considered a wealthier community...gated, with actual people at the gates. Same is true of both Alaqua (Longwood) and Lake Forest. And no, you'll not get much (maybe a condo?) for $250,000. Lake Mary and Sanford are nearby and are also growing. Less then 10 years ago these communities were a lot of farmland. Today they are now self sustaining. Good luck.

Default Heathrow

Tarcik,
Heathrow is a nice area with 76 homes available they range from 290k to 4.5M. you will find the schools to be nice there. There are some major employers you can find some on dice.com if you are seeking tech or high end roles. You will find the community to be very nice, upscale but not like Alaqua. but very nice. Welcome to Florida when it happens it is a great place to be.
