Ok, I don't criticize the people on this list. But I do criticize the list itself. What value does this list actually provide us, and what is it's purpose? It's like, being on this list is not necessarily going to change the world, so will it change Orlando? Does Orlando really need to know who the most "powerful" is so we can flock to the power-hitters to get anything done around here? And, isn't it basically the same people on the list over and over again every year, from Disney, from the Mayor's office, etc., just in different order? I just don't get it. Doesn't this just inflate the egos of people who think that metro-Orlando is the end-all of all metro areas? Maybe within Orlando, but gimme a break, to me, it's more self-serving than anything else. What's so impressive about being so "powerful" in Orlando? If you are one of these people on the list, shouldn't your role and authority, and overall responsibility, correspond to how much you accomplish for the area, rather than somehow equate it to a sense of power? And, just how are these power-rankings determined?

The Top 50 or Top 100 companies (to work for) to me are a more useful list and piece of information than something like this.

Frankly what value does Orlando Magazine provide to begin with?

If you want to be on one of their lists, you just have to take some advertising in their magazine.

Unless you are in the top 1% of income for the area, you can't afford 99% of what they advertise.

Agree with OP entirely! Are the rest of us supposed to walk around with reverence for these people??? Are we supposed to walk in fear of them--don't cross me or else??? Such a list is ridiculous. All it does is inflate egos of those who make the list.

Exactly. And who honestly gives a crap? It's not the Top 50 NYC/LA, or the Forbes 500. It's Orlando.. a metro area that isn't even in the top 25 in the country. Besides, there are plenty of wealthier & more powerful people in Orlando that didn't make the list because they intentionally don't try to make "lists."

Haha, I know exactly what you're saying. No, this list doesn't have any real redeeming social value. It's just something to read on the toilet.

LOL, this reminds me of the women at the YMCA that live in our area. They flaunt their cars, their rings, talk about their husbands jobs and how much money they make, and dont give a crap about anyone else and have their noses up at anyone else. It's like, "Ok, if you are so rich and important, why do you live in Orlando?" Like what, is Orlando supposed to be elegant? Please.

If they're so rich why are they at the YMCA and not a private health club?
