I am glad I read this post. I had seen how these areas mentioned here were rated but I was also told that Sarasota is a great place for kids and beautiful. Can you tell me what the difference is between the two areas if you can. I am getting really confused. We live in a town that we are the minority and unfortunately our neighbors aren't very friendly. We have two small kids and we want them to grow up in a close community where they can make friends, have activities and stay out of trouble. That is why we are considering Florida, plus it's been my husband's dream to move there. Thanks in advance for your input

If you are white be prepared to be a minority. Alot more in florida.

I would probably compare school systems. Go to the Florida Department of Education web site & compare schools.
