My wife and I went on a mini weekend trip to Daytona a couple weeks ago. It was pretty nice. We stayed at a resort on North 441 and the beach area their wasn't very crowded. We picked Daytona, because we didn't wanted to travel far, but if we had more time, we definitely would pick beaches on the Gulf Coast. They are so much nicer in my opinion.

If you leave Orlando and head east on 528, you will run into Cape Canveral and Cocoa Beach. Once in Cocoa Beach you have several parks to choose from. Sidney Fisher is the first one past Ron Jons and they the second one is Lori Wilson. If you want restaurants around you either stop at The PIER or Go to downtown Cocoa Beach about 2 miles south of the Ron Jon store. Park in the parking lot and go to the beach on minuteman parkway. There are a couple of open restaurants there too. One is called Coconuts and my children (who are grown) love it.
