We lived in Miami for 11 yrs and moved to Colorado 2 1/2 yrs ago to finish school. Plans changed when I got pregnant and had beutiful baby. Now, we want to go back to FL, but not to Miami. We loved it there, but w/the baby we would like in a family friendly town. We also have family in Orlando. We were recommended Orlando East/Avalon Park, Oviedo.. I have been reading about Lake Mary - for people living these areas - can I get your input on the best and bad? I read a few previous posts but they are old.
I am a stay at home mom and wold like to stay for at least one more year.
We own an apt. now, but think we would rent for the first year 'till we are ready and comfortable in the area.

I appreciate your input.

Lake Mary was recently listed in the top 100 cities to live in the country. I don't live up there, but I can say that it is a very pretty suburban Florida style area. Newer shopping, middle to upper-middle class neighborhoods, good schools, etc. You will instantly feel at home there if you are from Florida. Of the nice suburbs, I like Lake Mary because it is near I-4. Others might hate that, but on the weekends it will be easy to get around. During the week...any of these outlying cities will be a commute nightmare. I live in Maitland though, so I can't speak for personal experience. I think there are more Oviedo fans here, the other city to make the top 100 cities list.

East Orlando/Avalon Park is really nice. I live there now and I love it. In Avalon everybody is always out with their kids or walking their dogs. Stoneybrook and Eastwood are also nice communities on this side of town. Lots of great places to rent on this side of town that are clean and nice. We are moving to Clermont and find it to be a nice community with a small town flair, seems great for raising kids.
