I live in fort lauderdale and am thinking about moving to Orlando. Just wondering how the weather differs. I have heard it's hotter in the summer. Anbody lived in both places maybe shed some light? Also the winter weather how is it diffirnent?

There is less ocean breeze and therefore more humidity, especially in the summer. The daytime summer highs can be higher for this reason.
It also gets cooler here in Orlando in the winter months, even dropping below freezing once or twice for an overnight low. You do cross a climate zone when you get north of Vero Beach. You will also see a wider variety of trees and Spanish moss than the plantlife of South Florida.

I've lived in both. In the summer you are talking about a very, very slight difference and I have had just as many unbearable hot days down there as up here. However, Orlando winters offer fantastic weather that you don't get in SF. Cool and sunny in the daytime, and chilly in the evenings, but usually not too cold.

Hotter in the summer with less breeze, and a good deal cooler in the winter (up to 10 degrees cooler at night).

I cannot say, but isn't the lightning a bit more ferocious here in central? You know...lightning alley? More storms and a whole lot more lightning in the summer months?

It's definitely cooler in the winter.

Thanks . I am looking for somewhere that you can notice a cooler winter but in not ready for snow or anything. A longer slightly cooler winter sounds really nice and I would probably enjoy that. Hotter summer doesent sound to good but a few degrees is probably not a deal breaker.

You are correct except on this, the diversity/variety gradient goes high to low going from south to north.

The winters here are definitely cooler than down south. Probaly a good 10 degrees colder and if you head just a couple hours north to Ocala/Gainesville it drops another 10 degrees. So there are days when it can be in the 60's in S.FL (which is considered cold down there) and it would be 50's here in Orlando and 40's in Gainesville. Even a slight geographic shift here will give you noticeably cooler temps. For instance Apopka and Lake County (I think because it's somewhat hilly) is usally colder than Downtown or East Orlando.

As far as the summers, it really depends if you're used to living near the ocean in S.FL where there is a breeze present or further inland. I would say the summer here is almost identical to parts of South Fl that do not get an ocean breeze. Areas closer to the Everglades and West of the Turnpike are very comparable to here.

Yeah I'm west in davie so I guess summers are similar. And the areas I'm thinking of in Orlando are clermont or near there. I like the hills.
