We don't get many love bugs in Winter Haven but I do remember the love bugs in Orlando that is for sure. I remember one year they were so bad our house looked black and it was painted white.

I once made a comment here in Winter Haven where are the love bugs and everyone looked at me like I was from another country.

I just did a road trip up to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale, prepared my car with screening behind the grill, covered the mirrors and front part of the hood with baby oil and was VERY SURPRISED that not one hit my car and didnt see any.

I've done the trip up that way a number of times during this time of year and my car is usually black with them and also have to stop at least once if not twice to wash the windshield

On a radio talk show, I heard that if you take fabric softener sheets they remove the love bugs off the front bumper of your car. I was really skeptical, but i tried it in desperation. I couldn't believe that it worked!!
