We're very new to this....
Could someone please recommend areas with good schools(Grade 5 and 9), in a quiet but not too quiet suburb where we could afford a home of up to 275k.

Could you give a little more info about the size/style of home for which you're searching? Do you need to be close to downtown? Metro Orlando is almost 2 million people - there are LOTS of areas from which to choose....generally, if you move into the Alaqua/Heathrow area you're gonna need to bump up your home price.....some good prices are still found in SE Orlando (Waterford Lakes, Tivoli Woods, Lake Nona). In my neighborhood, 1800 SF homes (1-3 years old) are going for 325K and up.

Avoid any areas that talk about being close to the Orange Blossom Trail (OBT), Pine Hills, or Parramore. Note: look for a thread on this forum that talks about central fl zip codes - where to live or not.

Default best schools

I think for the price you will want to look at Winter Park, Waterford Lakes, and Avalon Park, Oviedo, and maybe Hunters Creek. I would look at where you will be working as well otherwise the commuter maybe be less than fun.
good Luck and come on down it's a great place.

Lake Mary & Winter Springs. I am a teacher/basketball coach at Seminole High School. My kids now in 6th & 11th have gone through the school system in Heathrow. They went to Heathrow Elementary, Markham Woods Middle, Millennium Midle, and Seminole High School. We all loved the experience. I would highly encourage you to find something zoned for Markham Woods Middle since you have a 5th grader getting ready to enter Middle School. I was a Middle School Assistant Principal for 6th & 7th grade a couple of years back. I have been very impressed with my child's experience at Markham Woods Middle. Don't get me wrong, there are several great middle schools in Seminole County, but I made sure we were zoned for Markham Woods Midlle School for my family. It has a brand new facility (two years old), great teachers, great administration.

As far as finding a home. You should be able to find a home zoned for Markham Woods Middle in the price range you are talking about. It's great to chat with people interested in their children's future. It makes all the difference.

obviously the above hasn't lived in the avalon waterford area.. the only goo thing is the schools.. the traffic is horrible,, and in waterford most kids need to be drivin to scholl which is a nighmare, cause we have all the avalon people cutting through our neighborhood on lake underhill and causing a back up that takes an extra 20 minutes everyday to get thru to and from work.. also the whold are is covered with college kids.. There is alot of resturants, but at 34 I'm usually one of the oldest there..
seriously look elsewhere unless you like traffic...

32708 Winter Springs, nice quiet place to live. Great schools and the children are able to bike and walk from a lot of the neighborhoods. I highly recommend it.

Thumbs up Sabal Pointe

32779-Sabal Pointe in Longwood is wonderful. You will most likely pay a little more for a home than what your looking for (350k). Its far enough from the city to still have wildlife, yet only a couple minutes driving from Cranes Roost Park and the Altamonte Mall.
Seminole County schools are awesome. My daughter just finished 2nd grade and loves her teachers and classes.
