Even though the OP was asking back in 2009, I will post

Spring Hillian, things have changed a little since 2009. There really isn't an off season like there used to be. Disney offers the free meal deal to people who stay on site in what used to be the off months, so hotels fill up. Also with the new fast pass + system unless you plan 90 or 120 days( forget which)in advance and are able to get fast pass + for the good rides you may have 60-90 minute waits in the stand by lines even now. That even includes seeing some of the princesses, btw . You can still get fast pass+ at the park or on your aps when in the park but the good stuff is usually gone, so people like us who wake up and say " Let's go to Disney today." are at a disadvantage now. You also need a computer, tablet, or smart phone almost because of the preplanning required. Floridians might want to consider the hard tickets to parties- usually around $60 or so I think. If you skip the special shows and character greetings, lines for rides are usually shorter.

It is still better than Christmas, Easter, and Spring break, to an extent summer crowds, and more comfortable to go in fall or winter. Get there at park opening. Stay till park closes for the firework shows. Right now it is Food and Wine at EPCOT, but they were running out of food at some of the stands the first night. Probably prepared for larger crowds now.

Magic Kingdom also closes early for the hard ticket Not So Scary Halloween party in September and October. Then again in November and December for Mickeys Very Merry Christmas party so you want to check schedules to see how late they stay open.

TO be fair, I guess it was 2011 when I last went, but Feb evenings were awesome for going on rides over and over in MK.
