The three largest electricity consuming items in the modern home are the A/C, the water heater, and the clothes dryer. Add to that 6-7 computers running continuously and you have the winning combination.

Are any of those computers gaming systems? people use them for high processing power demand programs? Do you have a big flat screen plasma TV on top of all that? How old is the house, block or wood?
ALL all the computers are computer gaming systems except for 1 laptop, lol. and there are 4 flat screen tv's in the house. all LCD or DLP, one 50", one 40", one 30" and one 24" i think. they're not all on constantly but i'm sure they're on quite a bit. When i think about all this stuff, I suppose 530 electric bills aren't that unnormal. it still sucks though.

have Progress Energy come out since our latest electric bill was now near $500 with only 3 adults in the house. Turns out that the house was built in the 80s and had it's roof replaced after the last hurricane came thru. They installed a new roof but no insulation. Now Progress sent out a energy auditor and he determined there were leaks in the ducts in the attic so basically all of our cool air was going to cool the attic! I had a bigger house in Miami and our FPL bills never passed $200 a month but then again FPL also has nuclear power plants so that must keep the cost down. Central Florida has outrageous electricity costs .

Sadly, only about 14% of the electricity energy comes from the nuclear power plants tho....wish it was alot more...power would be alot cheaper! We need more plants tho...I believe they are all at pretty high capacity for the ones we are currently running.
