I have been told by my HOA that the yard at my rental home in Kissimmee is in violation because cinch bugs have ruined it. I need to re-sod the yard or the HOA will do it and pass the cost on to me. I live a few hours away and plan to come to town next weekend to figure it out.

Can anyone give me advice on the best place to go to buy sod by the palette. Garden centers I guess will be very expensive and i will probably need help putting it down as I only have the weekend.

I would like to compare a few because I really don't know at this stage what is a fair price.

Before you resod the grass you should have the yard sprayed to kill them, otherwise you resod and they will just eat the new sod.

I don't know places down there, but I would just recommend that you get yourself some pest control service or make sure you put it in the tenant's contract (water/feed/pest) or you'll be back resoding again next year (a lot of times tenants don't water enough to keep the water bills low). Also consider getting the cheap grass (bahia) if possible, that stuff will not go anywhere (I know some retarded HOA's are requiring St. Augustine now)

I agree, basically, we're paying people so they can tell us what we can and can't do.

There is a new florida statute, that says we can now use florida friendly landscaping, and we don't have to listen to the HOA and plant all sod. I know you have an investment property, so this probably wont interest you in your case.

I'm having a similar issue, do you have any more information on "Florida Friendly Landscaping"?

You should do a Google search for florida friendly landscaping. IFAS centers teach free classes on it almost every week, look in the Orlando Sentinel for the next classes.
