The local news loves to scare the daylights out of you and now that hurricane season is over (and was a bust), they love to make it seem like everything terrible is happening....so you'll watch and cower in fear (but not change the channel!)

Exactly! THis kind of sensationalized news is very noticable in the Orlando market. Even when I watch the local news channels out of Tampa newscasters there seem to act more professional/businesslike compared to the clowns we have in Orlando. Their reporters have a bit more investigative analysis of the local news. As for all the crime I hear about, I know the statistics say that it is widespread but in MOST of Orlando I feel pretty safe and I cannot say the same about other places I've visited like Memphis, Savannah,or Montgomery for example. One final note, its really annoying that the "meteorologists" keep referring to November 30th as the last day or hurricane season. Give me a break. Even if we were to get a tropical system in October it would be nothing but scattered showers and some wind gusts of 30-40mph. Late July through late Sept. is a different story but beyond this two month span its HIGHLY unlikely a that a damaging hurricane is going to roll through here....Its all about the TV ratings and protecting their behinds.

All cities have bank robberies.
I don't think Orlando takes the lead or anything.
Most people are aware that they probably aren't going to get by with it due to current technology.
The rest are idiots and deserve to get caught.

As annerk said..."tis the season". Every year duirng the holiday season there is a spike in this type of crime nationwide. Saw it when I was in Los Angeles, Vegas, Kansas City and now here.
