to get from maitland area to universal studios at around 5 pm. google is telling me 30 minutes, but ive heard traffic can be bad. 5 is rush hour but i would assume it would be more people leaving the city then comming in. just trying to figure out if it would be worth it to live in maitland

At that time of day you'd better give yourself at LEAST an hour. Coming from Maitland, you're basically stuck with I-4 (i.e. parking lot). You can hit it at 436 or Maitland interchange, but by the time you hit Colonial Drive you're going to be sitting still at that time of day (at least M-F).

Going from Maitland to Universal at 5:00 p.m. will take you about 45 minutes. From Maitland to Downtown, it should be a breeze, usually, because you are going the opposite direction from rush hour; then from downtown to Universal, it will be congested.
