Hi Everyone,
We moved from S. Florida to Kissimmee in 2005. What a mistake! Anyway, my parents live in Clermont/Groveland and we prefer to live closer to them, however I am not convinced. I narrowed my choices down to a few cities. The most desirable for us would be Oviedo, but it is way too far away. Winter Park was another choice, but it will take at least 40-45 to get there from my parents house. Windemere is another choice, but the high schools there are not as good as Oviedo and Winter Park. Schools are a HUGE part of our decision making. We can do well when it comes to elementary and middle, but the high schools also have to be top notch! When you look at the reports for Winter Garden and other lake county schools the ratings are not like Oviedo or Winter Park. Forget Windemere, because that high school mixes with too many other areas. Do you see my dilemma? We were considering to move this summer, but I think I may wait another year. Kissimmee is totally out of the question. The sooner we move the better. Next, it is finding a good church.... Any help here? If any of you get insulted by my post, please don't take it personally.

Dr Phillips and Olympia high are both great schools and they cater to the windemere/dr phillips areas. The trip to clermont form winter park isn't that bad. about 20 mins. and about 30 mins form oviedo.

and yes boone HS is also a great school. Its located just south of downtown orlando.

Clermont would also be a good choice. East Ridge high school is a good school. Clermont is a nice area .

Cool schools

I pulled up the schools from DOE in Florida. Those schools you mentioned overall do well. It is just a matter of where we will end up.... Winter Park and Oviedo do take much longer than you stated.... but thank you. What about activities and sports? What towns have more to do for young families? I have three kids.

I would say clermont winter park dr phillips and Oviedo have the most family activites like sports. There is access to community little league sports everywhere in central FL

It takes a LOT longer than 20 minutes from Clermont to Winter Park. It's about 20 minutes from Clermont to Winter Garden.

With absolutely zero traffic in the absolute best case scenario it's still over 20 minutes.
