hello all. I'm relocating from Central Europe in about 90 days and was looking through the internet at what to rent and where. I like the idea of downtown living and saw properties like Aspire, Paramount, The Vue, 55 West. What do you think of these?

Or conversely, would you recommend another area of the city? Winter Park for example? I ask because of crime levels etc. I looked on neighbrohoodscout.com and Winter Park gets good marks while downtown does not.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice!

J

If you live in any of the buildings with the exception of 55 West (too far downtown) you will be fine...just don't walk around alone at 3 AM down dark alleys. I think that is common sense though. 55 West is very nice, but you are right on top of a very loud party district. I'd stick to the Thornton Park area if that does not appeal to you. I live in the Paramount and love it...beautiful building and the best location right in front of Lake Eola and right on top of the grocery store (Publix). 101 Eola is another one to add to your list. There are a few more, but they are very expensive. If you want downtown living, Winter Park is OK but it doesn't compare to downtown/Thornton Park.

Downtown is relatively safe if you have common street smarts. Also bare in mind that the downtown numbers are skewed by the late night crowd so there are probably a lot of petty crimes boosting up the statistics downtown.
