Gator takes a bite (http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2010/5/18/620478.html?title=Great+pics:+12-foot+gator+caught+after+swimmer+attacked - broken link). I think it is getting toward the end of mating season and this gator just might have been needing to refuel. Meantime, I'll stick with my tub.

Those are some big teeth. Triathalete or not, couldn't he have just swam laps in a pool to train?

At my age now I know using a pool would be prudent. Lakes are the natural home of gators.

I'm by no means an animal rights activist, but I'm not sure why the gator needs to be destroyed for simply doing what gators do.

It's amazing that someone would be actually dumb enough to swim across a lake during the gator's most active time of year. If you're in the middle of the lake water-skiing or something you're a little better off but he was probably wading into the water from the sides- where they nest. Basically asking for it.
