I'd like to plan a trip to the Orlando area, but I'm only planning on visiting 1 or 2 of the parks. I'm going to be 8 months pregnant and want to spend most of the time relaxing on the beach. Are there any nice nearby beaches that anyone can recommend? I see Cocoa Beach is somewhat close. How is that? Any others?
Thanks all!

Cocoa will probably be the closest beach for you. Just take Toll Rd 528 east. The "busy" part of the beach is around Ron Jon's surf shop (can't miss it as you drive in). If you want something a little more to yourself, just keep going for a couple of miles....beach accesses will be on your left (east) every couple of blocks. This is a really nice time of year to enjoy the waves, wind and sun.

Actually....only the area at the end by Parking Lot 13 is nudist. Lots 1-12 are not nudist and are beautiful beaches accessed by boardwalks with nice bath houses. You are close enough to the Cape to see the launch facilities very well. In fact, always check before you go. Playalinda is closed several days before a launch is scheduled.

It is also much further from Orlando than Cocoa Beach and there are no amenities, restaurants etc. close by. Depends on what you want. I love to take a cooler, umbrella, food and drinks and spend the day relaxing at Playalinda. For impromptu, short jaunts to the beach, I go to Cocoa.

There's also New Smyrna. It's quiet there.

Actually it isn't and sometimes the county does enforce the law there, too. It is a National Park within Brevard County. Brevard County has anti-nudity laws banning public nudity anywhere in the county. I think the 1995 ban even bans thongs at the beaches, too. Playlinda is on Federal ground within the county. Most of the time the county sheriffs department just asks people to cover up and the $500 fine isn't given. But every once in a while some one gets arrested out there, mainly because they were engaging in sex or refused to cover up when asked to and are arrested for violence against a police officer etc.

The whole park does not have nudes on the beach. You have to go all the way to the last parking lot and if you choose to go without a suit, you might get fined $500 or just be someone's tale from their vacation in Florida. You also might end up on porn sites around the world or in a commercial in Russia etc. because people have actually found themselves on the internet.
