Mornin', all!

Today's Question(s):

What was the last thing you attempted to do that turned into a "project" ?

Writing a book and a blog.

Extra Credit Question:

Is your home "company ready" at this moment ?

Yes. Mainly cause we have company with us.

If not how long would it take to make it "company ready" ?

When not company ready, usually takes me about 2 or 3 hours to clean.

Bonus Question:

How many catalogs do you get at your home ?

Hell if I know.

Which is your favorite ?

The only catalogue I get is the NLS bimonthly Talking Book Topics. With a send-back form in print. Yes, a blind organization, that has me on file as a braille-only reader, sends me mail in print.

Last time you ordered something from a catalog ?

My cane, from an online catalogue.

Just for Fun:

What are your expected High & Low temps for today ?

Highs 91, lows 73. Thunderstorms throughout the day.

How many of our QOTD family are still using their A/C ?

I can tell it's on but it's definitely not my choice. Actually, I'm shivering as I speak and am going to get my sweater.

When do you think you will be able to turn it off ?

Okay, back! Don't know, not up to me.

Today in History:
1840 - The organization of the American Society of Dental Surgeons was founded in New York City
1872 - 1st mail-order catalog issued by A. M. Ward
1920 - The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. It gave women the right to vote.
Huzzah!
1926 - Weather map televised for 1st time
1960 - Beatles give their 1st public performance (Kaiserkeller in Hamburg)
Sweet. I always wished I could have seen the Beatles live.
1962 - Peter, Paul and Mary release their 1st hit "If I Had a Hammer"
I love that song! On another note, I met Peter Yarrow in person, in Washington D.C. during the weekend of the Obama Inauguration. It was epic, being a folk guitarist myself. And we talked for a good 15 minutes before he got whisked away by some other fan.

1996 - Record 6,654 people tap at Macy's Tap-o-mania in New York City

Word of the Day:
piquant \ PEE-kuhnt \ , adjective;
1. Agreeably stimulating, interesting, or attractive.
2. Agreeably pungent or sharp in taste or flavor.
3. Of an interestingly provocative or lively character.

I like this word.

Today is:
National Soft Ice Cream Day Yum.
Cupcake Day More yum.
Mail Order Catalog Day
Bad Poetry Day

If you're a poet and you know it clap your hands. Did I just confuse a poem with a song? Yes I think I did. Peanut butter.

Today is my last day in Belgium. probably won't be back until next year. Tomorrow I head over to Romania for a couple days, then onto Hong Kong, South Korea, and then home to Alaska.

Today's Question(s):

What was the last thing you attempted to do that turned into a "project" ?
Ask me this in a couple hours. After 3 months in the hotel in Belgium I have to try to pack everything into one suitcase.

Extra Credit Question:

Is your home "company ready" at this moment ?

Right...

If not how long would it take to make it "company ready" ?
Hard to say. However I am sure it will turn into a "project"

Bonus Question:

How many catalogs do you get at your home ?

One or two.

Which is your favorite ?

Anymore no favorites. Way back when I was little I always looked forward to the Sears Christmas catalog. Where I grew up this as close to a toy store as there was.

Last time you ordered something from a catalog ?
If you count online catalogs, then a couple months ago. From a regular catalog it has been several years.

Just for Fun:

What are your expected High & Low temps for today ?

High/22c Low/22c. Of course this inside my hotel room with the a/c running. Outside I have no idea.

How many of our QOTD family are still using their A/C ?
If the a/c in my hotel room is considered "mine" then I am still using it.

When do you think you will be able to turn it off ?
Why that will be tomorrow when I check out. However, where I am heading tomorrow is much much much hotter.

Today's Question(s):

What was the last thing you attempted to do that turned into a "project" ? There are so many, but here is one started in March 2009.

It's a giant concrete pond. Not a little cute pond, like you buy at Home Depot, this thing is/was big enough to wade in... Pilots have told me it looks neat at 3,000 Ft AGL, looks like a snail... You can see it on the satellite view of Google Maps. Did I mention the waterfall not it the picture? Perhaps later I will talk about it.

Extra Credit Question:

Is your home "company ready" at this moment ? Nope.

If not how long would it take to make it "company ready" ? Depends on the company and if my wife is off that day. She would of course clean windows, vacuum etc.

Bonus Question:

How many catalogs do you get at your home ? Catalog's, maybe 50 a year. Free address labels with our names spelled wrong?, maybe 300 a year.

Which is your favorite ? Those are all my wife's catalogs, I don't even look at them, she gives me unsolicited catalog briefings.

Last time you ordered something from a catalog ? Probably 1980...

Just for Fun:

What are your expected High & Low temps for today ? Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 93°F High, 65°F Low and Humidity 36%. You know, it's a different heat.

How many of our QOTD family are still using their A/C ? This family is still on A/C.

When do you think you will be able to turn it off ? October?

That's all? You woke me up for that?

Today's Question(s):

What was the last thing you attempted to do that turned into a "project" ?

For the past several days I've been getting some much needed repairs done to the exterior of my house and I've also had the house totally re-painted on the outside. And now...IT'S FINALLY OVER!!..YIPPEEEE!...lol. This whole thing turned into a much bigger project than I anticipated, that's why I haven't been here on CD as much this past week.

Extra Credit Question:

Is your home "company ready" at this moment ?

Yes! My brother, his wife, and my nieces and nephew are coming into town from the Dallas-Fort Worth area tomorrow and will be here for the next few days. If they weren't coming to visit, the answer would have been NO...lol.

Bonus Question:

How many catalogs do you get at your home ?
About 3 or 4, on occasion.

Last time you ordered something from a catalog ? About a year ago, I ordered a couple of T-shirts with my favorite college football team's logo on them.

About 95-100 for the high, upper 80's for the low, I think??? I'd have to look it up.

How many of our QOTD family are still using their A/C ? I sure am, it's hot here!...lol.

When do you think you will be able to turn it off ? Probably not until about mid-October.
