Today's Question(s):
Not sure if you have seen it,but there is a TV show on the Science Channel called "How it's Made". It shows how everyday objects that people use are made.
So, what everyday items(s) are you curious about and want to know "How it's made" ? The internet still amazes me along with fax machines/scanners (for me those are every day items). It's not that I don't know how they work, just amazed that I can be in one part of the world and send documents (or sit and answer QOTD) and POOF it reaches its destination just like the original.
Bonus Question:
What is your "superpower " !! ? I don't know if it's a super power or the fact I'm just a teeny tiny bit o/c but even when I was in my late teens I was known as the 'go to girl' because I could figure out solutions or come up with ideas to help get something done.
Extra Credit Question:
Yesterday a few folks answered I have a few pairs of jeans I hope to fit back into, So it made me curious
Do you have clothes in your closet that you keep hoping to either lose a few pounds or that they will come back "in style" so you can wear them again ? Nope.
Curious Minds Question:
In honor of "gas Mask Day"
When was the last time you wish you had one ? Back when El Stinky Ralph was coming by the office. I think he went back to wherever he came from, because haven't seen him in a long gime. Dang that man stunk.
Just for Fun:
Have you ever had Yorkshire Pudding ? I've had pudding but not exactly sure what Yorkshire Pudding is
Today in History:
1792 - The cornerstone of what was termed the President’s House was laid by George Washington in Washington, DC. The name, White House, was not officially adopted until 1902. The house, designed by James Hoban, would be three stories tall with more than 100 rooms.
1914 - Garrett Morgan invents and patents gas mask considering the timing, not suprised - "The war to end all wars". Wish that would have turned out to be true.
1947 - "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" premieres
1963 - Phrase "Beatlemania" is coined after Beatles appear at Palladium
Word of the Day:
triskaidekaphobia \tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh\ , noun:
1. Fear or a phobia concerning the number 13. I just don't like the number when it falls on a Friday, but not like I cower under my covers and don't do anything LOL
Today is:
National Yorkshire Pudding Day must look up what this is
National Peanut Day need to call my DS - used to call him Peanut
Squirrel Awareness Day we have some beautiful black squirrels
Pet peeve Day well right now Shredder is sleeping, but I'm sure he'll peeve me at some point like attacking something he shouldn't
It's Train Your Brain Day I used all my brain cells yesterday figuring out the problem with my website software (dreamweaver) so I could do something I needed to without erasing all the code.
Gas Mask Day I'll just avoid stinky people

I really can't think of anything but it does bring to mind a cute story. My niece, when she was 5 or 6, asked her dad "How do they make chewing gum". Her dad got all excited, went to the encyclopeia (this was before home computers) and proceeded with a long explanation to which she replied. "No they make it flat"
Bonus Question:
What is your "superpower " !! ?
A very analytical mind.
Extra Credit Question:

Do you have clothes in your closet that you keep hoping to either lose a few pounds or that they will come back "in style" so you can wear them again ?
I don't have that problem. As I gain weight it becomes a strain on my legs and they get shorter. I just roll up the cuffs and wear them until worn out.
Curious Minds Question:
In honor of "gas Mask Day"
When was the last time you wish you had one ?
Back in June. I was in a Top Fuel dragster pit when they warmed the engine.
No masks for visitors
Just for Fun:
Have you ever had Yorkshire Pudding ?
NO

A few of you have asked about what I teach.
Our volunteer program teaches hands on science in classes at schools where the majority of the students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. A wonderful part of the program is teaching nutrition by teaching the kids how to grow vegetables and fruits and enjoy them.
We also bring different fruits & veggies into classroom for the kids to try
lol Yeah that means this "selective eater" gets stuck trying them too I tried the "I will wait to make sure everyone can have seconds" line
So know that you know what I do on "School Wednesdays" and why I am always in rush to get to the school, I better hurry up and ask
Volunteering is to be commended! Don't serve me eggplant or brussel sprouts.....bleh!
Today's Question(s):
Not sure if you have seen it,but there is a TV show on the Science Channel called "How it's Made". It shows how everyday objects that people use are made. Sounds like an extension of Mr. Rogers....he used to go to crayon and lightbulb factories, etc. Just like Pooh and Sesame, you could trust him to be alone with your kid. I miss him and his sweaters.
So, what everyday items(s) are you curious about and want to know "How it's made" ? I can't think of anything at the moment, but I am sure I will after I submit this. I have taken quite a few factory tours over the years.....they're interesting. However, since 911, many companies have cancelled their tours.....it makes me sad....
Bonus Question:
What is your "superpower " !! ?
I became a mother almost 21 years ago, period, end of statement. I think it should be a law of nature for a woman to sprout another arm after she has a child.....you certainly need 3 hands...
Extra Credit Question:
Yesterday a few folks answered I have a few pairs of jeans I hope to fit back into, So it made me curious
Do you have clothes in your closet that you keep hoping to either lose a few pounds or that they will come back "in style" so you can wear them again ? I dress conservatively, so my clothes really don't go out of style....but yes, I have some clothes that don't fit and I keep hoping..
Curious Minds Question:
In honor of "gas Mask Day"
When was the last time you wish you had one ? I've seen them in army/navy surplus stores, but I never wanted one...
Just for Fun:
Have you ever had Yorkshire Pudding ? Yes.....in London...and in a few restaurants in the USA..... I prefer pudding to taste like pudding...as in vanilla, bananas and vanilla wafers.....ya know what I mean? Maybe if it had a different name...

Looks like they will be getting to our house late today or tomorrow with the trencher for the storm sewer. The first houses done have had sod laid and I expect that part to go pretty fast so we might be done and sodded by the middle of next week. Finally. We can't open the windows for all for the dust, and the weather has been beautiful.
The men working on the house are finished with just about everything except the new windows, which they should have either late tomorrow or early Friday. They have some minor caulking left so that project should also be done by the middle of next week. Now I have to get the gutter man out to do his bit.
And I have one more person to call about painting. If we can get the entire house done this fall we will. If not I'm going to paint the areas that were replaced and wait until spring.
Mrs. Tek decided quite a while ago to take this week off. Bad timing. No sleeping in around here when all the workmen start early. Oops!
Everyone have a great day!
