WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Census Bureau says an estimated 36 million children between 5 and 13 put on costumes and went trick-or-treating last Halloween.

The bureau said data from 2009 suggests the children had 111.3 million occupied dwellings to choose from while going door-to-door for candy.
