I turned onto I-575 from a side road in Pickens County Georgia about a year ago. I saw fire trucks and ambulances right by a burning upside down car with two burned up people inside. I think the Car went too fast, lost control and flipped over. There are two crosses at that spot. I still have dreams sometimes about seeing that.

Saw a lady who fell asleep at the wheel, cross two lanes with her car and smack right into the front grill of an 18 wheeler. We had just passed her. The hood of her engine came flying off just as we got beyond her and she hit the truck. Ex stopped in the middle of the highway (all traffic did and he was the lead car). I ran back to offer assistance, but luckily for her, there were two nurses in a car that run up to help as well. Both her feet were hanging off her ankles, with her ankle bones sticking out of ripped off flesh. This was at exit 11 on the NJ Tpk. Stopped traffic and backed everything up for hours. Luckily, we were able to get out of there pdq because we were in front.

Once, I was on a bus and while waiting to cross an intersection, we observed a car run a red light and hit another vehicle making its left-hand turn. That shook me up and don't know if anyone was hurt or not as we did not stick around.

One day last year, I walked several blocks and crossed an intersection to get to my bank. Since there were no lines, I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. When I walked back out to the intersection, I observed the aftermath of an accident where one vehicle was partially on the exact sidewalk that I was walking on less than five minutes prior .... That REALLY freaked me out as I could have been a casualty of that crash.

My boyfriend and I passed by a very bad motorcycle accident on I-81 in Virginia. He wasn't wearing a helmet and had suffered a severe head and fatal injury as a result. Basically half his head was missing.

An acquaintance told me this story about 30 years ago, and I still remember it. He was at a stop light in NYC and happened to turn his head towards the sidewalk on his right just as a person was landing from falling or jumping off the roof of a building. And he said that their eyes met as the guy's head hit the ground. This guy was haunted by that image for years and I'm sure that he still is.

No, so far I have never actually witnessed a really bad accident. However, I was once an Emergency Room nurse and saw some pretty chewed up people in that setting from time to time.

About 2 1/2 years ago a woman died at our gate.

We live in a rural area, dirt road and all. She was 3 times the legal limit and going about 80 mph, hit the soft shoulder, lost control, flipped the car several times and was thrown from her car. Her vehicle landed in our barbed wire fence, she landed in our driveway.

The Police blocked off the road for hours and took hundreds of pictures even though it was pretty obvious no one else was involved. They assured me that they would clean all of the debris and bodily fluids up. They didn't. I got to spend my birthday morning digging up an area oh maybe 3'x3' and 6" deep to remove the blood. I didn't want my children to see this.

The ironic part was that she was an insurance agent. Auto to be exact.

As a paralegal, I investigated auto and industrial accidents for over 20 years, including many fatalities. Believe me, you don't want to see the things I've seen. Just be safe out there.....
