A few reasons for me, I get bored a lot at work for one, but there's no other forum I know of with such a wide variety of sub-forums and topics discussed, particularly with so many people from different parts of the world. A site like this with an emphasis on learning about different cities/regions just wouldn't exist in Britain because as it's a smaller, more homogenous country there's less to know and what there is we'd more than likely know anyway. I've always had an interest in geography and have done a lot of travelling but have never been to the US and probably won't have the time or money to make a visit worthwhile any time soon, so reading this is a good substitute.

I googled the town I was moving to and somebody had mentioned it in a thread. Got interested reading through a bunch of the posts and decided to sign up. Been here a little over 3 years now.

I first started coming on here to see the pictures of Alaska when my parents decided to move up there. I wanted to see where they would be living. They've been there for almost a year now, and I'm still coming here. It's fun  There's always interesting stuff to read about |
