The truth is many people are not considerate or respectful in any area of their life.....much less on their cell phones.
Yes, when I first read Jezer's Peeve (ha ha! "Jezer's Peeve" sounds funny, doesn't it?) I thought, "That's just the way of the world now." The more I thought about it, I realized that my worst cell phone peeve is when people won't hang up (or at least set it down) to order food from a waiter or at a counter. The person serving them doesn't know whether to interrupt or wait or what....?
I've had just the opposite happen to me. I went outside to take an important phone call when the neighbors decided it was time to talk to me. The rudeness works both ways.
What ticks me off about cell phone users are the ones pushing a grocery cart around and talking at the same time. They are so engrossed in their conversations they don't even notice they are blocking traffic.
Ugh, I agree Lisa. Wish we could go back to times before cell phones. I just can't imagine why some people think it's ok to carry on a long, loud convo. in a public area.!!!
Isn't that the truth? We did just fine back in the days before cell phones and heck, a lot of us here even remember party lines
What I hate is when I call someone to give them a heads up about something and the first words out of my mouth are "I'm almost out of minutes, but wanted to give you a quick heads up about something" and instead of them saying "Oh thanks, Joy - if I have any other questions I'll ring you back", they drone on and on and on and on until I do run out of minutes Then I have to run down and buy more.
I don't like little surprises like exceeding my plan by 2 seconds and getting an $800 bill (I hate you verizon lol), so I don't have a phone plan. At least though I can still receive calls even if I'm out of minutes.
I've noticed at the last few funerals I have been too that there have been notices posted or announcements made about turning cell phones off. How pathetic is that. I don't use my phone alot, but as another poster and Jezer pointed out, there always seems be someone rude and obnoxious around when one really needs to listen to, or make an important call.
I remember going to a wake a few months ago and it was something out of the Sopranos LOL...People texting, arguing, on cell phones...while the woman was lying in a coffin in front of them all! All I could say was wow!!
