I just read that story ... Horrible! I cannot understand these "parents" that deliberately harm their kids. There was also a story about a man in Pasadena who suffocated his baby daughter.

Of course, we mustn't forget the woman who threw her baby several stories outside the parking structure at the children's hospital in Orange. Unfortunately, that baby died of his injuries all because momma could not handle his disabilities.

His access to the child should be permanently removed. Hopefully he will have plenty of jail time and his jail mates won't be happy with what he has done.

Somebody should throw HIM overboard, and then leave.

Oddly, that's how I learned to swim. My step-father chucked me into the St. Johns River and told me to swim back to the boat, I did. Still hate that man!

I hope he goes to jail for a very long time. People like this guy should not be allowed to parent, own pets, or anything that requires any type of care.

Quote from the article in the LA Times:

Briles pleaded guilty in January to a misdemeanor for public intoxication last August, court records show.

I'm surprised he was still able to have custody of the child. In many states such offense would temporarily keep the parent from having the child in his/her custody until they have proven that they have done something to correct whatever problem that caused the offense, such as alcoholism.
