LONDON (Reuters) - A father mistakenly declared dead after going missing eight years ago has been reunited with his family after his son spotted him on television, police said on Thursday.

The family of John Delaney thought he had died when he disappeared in April 2000. They held a funeral and cremation after police found what they thought was his body three years later.

Poor dad made an ash of himself. This is no way to urn respect. Hardly a glowing, heart warming tribute. In fact, it burns me up but please don't flame me. A shame that the family got stiffed. They will not be eternally grateful.

I wonder if the family paid for the father's cremation.. boy talk about getting burned!

DNA technology was available in 2003, so I wonder why they didn't use it back then to determine the identity of the body that was found.

If their father is alive and with them now, what or who the hell is that they cremated and kept with them all these years? http://bestsmileys.com/clueless/1.gif (broken link)

You guys are too funny!

On a serious note, I wonder if they collected life insurance, and what will happen now if they did? They're toasted.
