I Saw An Eagle Cry !!!

Today I saw an eagle,
With a teardrop in his eye.
It literally took my breath away,
To see an eagle cry.

I asked him, What's the matter?,
And he told me what he saw.

A cowardly attack was made,
On the towers that once stood tall.

He said everything he stood for,
Had taken a shocking blow.

So he had to take a moment,
To let his own emotions show.

Then he proudly told me,
That our Nation would survive.

That our Liberty and Freedom,
He'd be sure to keep alive.

He said for us not to be afraid,
To stand together, not apart.

For a terrorist has succeeded,
If he puts fear within our hearts.

Thumbs up Great thread idea Brian!!!

We just passed the 2 yr Anniversary of Katrina . We should not forget 911 . And when I have some more time Brian, I will post here about what I remember from that fateful day. I remember it well. Maybe others can also post what they were doing and where they were that day.

Blessings and prayers to all who survived it, to those that lost loved ones in it, to those who put their lives in danger to help during this tragedy, and to all our troops fighting so that we do not have another 911 on our soil again !

Peace on earth, goodwill towards man

Excellent post Brian. It does seem sometimes like people are forgetting, I don't see as many flags or hear as many God bless America's anymore. I think we need to see the tape of the attacks everyday to keep it fresh in our minds and we need to be reminded of the very brave men and women who are dying daily to keep us free!

I Love North Carolina

Here is an e-mail i received
i thought you would like it

Subject: SHAKE IT OUT & LET IT FLY!!!

SHAKE IT OUT & LET IT FLY!!!

Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this Email
immediately to everyone in your address book asking them to also forward it.
We have a little less than one week and counting to get the word out all
across this great land and into every community in the United States of
America.
If you forward this email to least 11 people and each of those people do the
same ... you get the idea.
THE PROGRAM:
On Monday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed
outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every
individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this
sixth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this honor of those
who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who
continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and
abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in
American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood
shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but
disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it
shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American
flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism
of all kinds
Action Plan:
So, here's what we need you to do ..
(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please
Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments
Guide you.
(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly
the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on
this day.
Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America!

I remember getting a phone call from family in Minneapolis about the plane crashes,it was so surreal. How could something like that happen here? I remeber being glued to the television for days and how quiet the skies were when all flights were grounded. We are not too far from the Columbia Metropolitian Airport in SC. Very Eerie. It is definately a time in my lifetime I will never forget.

I knew a few of the crewmembers on both the AA and UA flights that were flown into the WTC...I think of them every time I fly (which is a lot) and especially say a prayer for them when Sept. 11 rolls around...thanks for the nice post, BrianG.

A young man in his very early 20's was killed that day. He played football as a little boy on the field that my 10 year old plays on now. His picture as a youngster in his team football uniform sits on the shelf in the snackstand at the field for everyone to see. The field was also named and dedicated to him. Before the home games, his name and family are mentioned. I look at my son now, in that same uniform and pray for that family and the pain they must feel every day. I am so grateful and blessed for everything I have, especially my children. God bless and protect everyone touched by this tragedy. Jeannie

My husband worked with a woman that was on the flight that went into the Pentagon. She was a wife and mother of 2 young children. We think of her every time someone mentions 9/11. She was in Washington to get a patent approved for their company. She was on her way home.

Thank you BrianG for letting me mention her.
