1.) Spread some of the cash around my family
2.) Go away for an overdue vacation
3.) Set money aside for retirement
4.) Set money aside for spending
5.) Set money aside for giving to people outside the family
6.) I will get a better education since I'm still quite young and won't be an elderly person for 30 more years.
7.) Set money aside for investments
8.) Set money aside for future family (Wife is gonna have to sign something before we get married. Sorry, no gold diggers allowed!! )
9.) I would buy up the properties around me and make it one big backyard. I'm not too interested in large houses that need 20 maids to keep it.
10.) Set money aside for property taxes, insurances, utilities, and routine maintenance.

Help freinds and family.
Give a lot to charity
I would pay off my debts
We could use a new car and Pickup.
Buy more land
Travel
I would take my old house and turn it into a beautiful swan.( I love my old house)
And try to save the rest.
Bury it maybe? ( not sure I would trust a bank now.)

Okie

otherwise yeah pick numbers that mean something and stick to it... if we did a group buy here we might win and all get our dollar back but it would be exciting lol!
From what I heard, the odds of winning the Powerball are 1 in 90 million, so it might take the clerk a little while to print all of those tickets!

From what I heard, every Powerball winning ticket was purchased in a lottery pool. You'll rarely see one person with a winning ticket.

I'm not sure about the Powerball, but some state lotteries will allow you to purchase as many tickets as the odds in winning, and they'll guarantee you a winning number. For example if the odds of winning are 1 in 4 million, you'll have to purchase 4 million tickets, which is fine as long as the lottery is over 10 million. When you win and choose the cash option, you'll only get your 4 million back, and if you choose the annuity option, you'll get it back over a 20 or a 25-year period.

You'd be better off investing $4 million in either a simple savings account(s) with different banking institutions, or real estate, even with today's economic crisis.

I think I'll keep my money, thank you.

Mike - GREAT thinking!

Florida power ball right now as of Wed Feb 18th is $105M. Surely if someone has $4M to play with, they would make out fabulous! Now is the time to buy 4M tickets!

But with the Powerball, you only have a chance in 90 million, so you'll have to buy 90 million tickets... Can I send you a check?

Actually, we have the Powerball here in Arizona also, but I don't play the lottery anymore. When I used to, I won between $1,000 and $1,200 when I matched 5 numbers in the Arizona lottery in 1989. The biggest amount I've ever won in the Powerball was $100.

I won $1000 on a scratch ticket on my birthday in 2005. I've never won anything with powerball so I quit playing. I have hope though, that someday I'll find the winning ticket on the ground.

Mike the Power Ball odds are 1 in 195,249,054. Look at the back of the lottery play tickets for the odds on any amount paid out.
The Powerball went up to 59 numbers about a month ago and that is why the odds are so much higher

This is an old thread dating back to 2007, but if the OP checked with their Lottery Commission, they would see that all the numbers are published from past drawings so you can see what numbers hit most often.

Gee.. I guess it's been a while since I played. I remember the odds were 1 in 90 million, but now it looks like they're 1 in impossible!

I remember when the Arizona Lottery first came about in our state, and their slogan was "You can't win if you don't play". Well, I came up with my own, which was an addition to their slogan that said "and I won't play if I don't win!"..
