U know I went to see the movie this weekend "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" I did not come way feeling all that happy... nor did I think I saw anything in there that remotely sounded like things I would want to do. I mean if I know the end is coming for sure I am not going to be grabbing my records, looting and maybe not even calling family and friends. I am gone git my Bible and have a prayer meeting. I want to be among true worshippers w/ my kids waiting to see the Glory of God. Of course I believe enough people praying in agreement and in faith would save the world and the impending doom would be averted.

I had a discussion, not quite an argument, with a coworker about 2012. She was appalled that anybody could want the world to end, but I took a more pragmatic view. If the world is going to end, it is going to end. Wishing it or wishing against it won't matter. And I would hope it would be a new stage in man's existence. Aliens come and usher in a new era of enlightenment, hopefully one thats positive. Or aliens attack and wipe out or enslave mankind. If its the latter, I'm opting out and dying fighting or just dying. Bummer. Or a disaster wipes out the planet. Asteroid, pole shift, solar flare, rogue planet, pulsar, quasar, micro black hole, whatever. At least the hassles of work no longer matter.
If you believe in the afterlife as I do, you can hope for a better world on the other side. Or maybe we see the second coming and that ushers in major changes. Its something to get through( revelations, the apocalypse) but the end result is all good.

I would buy several bottles of the finest champagne, some really great food and chocolate. Gather up as many friends as possible and have the party of my lifetime. Then I would bend over and kiss my %$# goodbye.

You'd be disappointed, Dave. Better to leave the dream alone.

Very interesting. I am way to emotional to be so practical, but ur practicality makes sense. I don't think I hope the world comes to an end. I just hope things change for the better

I would spend it with my son (and our kitty). We would pray. I would talk about and remember special memories, look through pictures. I would tell him, as I do EACH and EVERY day, how blessed I am to be his mom and how much I love him.

***This is a sad topic..makes me feel choked up and teary eyed to think about.
