Great tips Pam...when I was a little girl my mother was ironing during a thunderstorm. Thankfully the iron was in an upright position sitting on the ironing board at the time. A bolt of lighting came through the electrical lines, out the outlet up the cord then jetted out of one of the holes in the iron and broke through the window across the room.

Needless to say my mother never had anything electrical running during a thunder storm.

During this past 4th of July just before the firework display were to begin we started having lightening and thunder storms. It was one of the most vivid storms I have ever seen with not just long but wide strikes of thunder coming down along with with the fireworks it was quite the display. Right after the event people couldn't leave fast enough!!!
