Advertisements

Good morning peevers.

We're hoping that the weather should start to improve in the next few days as that Jetstream moves further north. Fingers crossed, and just in time for the Olympics.

I look at various newspapers, and all kinds of other sites online.

One thing that can be the price that you pay for 'free' sites are the various pop up ads and all sorts.

I thought our online national newspapers were bad, but some American ones have all kinds of ads that appear as you scroll across that section, sometimes almost completely obscuring the page, and giving In Your Face a whole new meaning.

So, there's the cue for the POTD;

Online Pop up ads.

By the way peevers, I'll be off for a few days as of Sunday, and our dear fellow peever AksarbeN has kindly agreed to take over in my absence- thanks!

Pop ads are a real nuisance, but fortunately we have a program that blocks nearly all of them.

AksarbeN will do a great job for you while you're absent.

Hope you're right about the weather Jezer. It rained here during the night, and is very dull, but dry now. It'll be a shame if the Olympics are a washout.

I don't see pop up ads. My son set up this machine of mine for me. He must have done a good job!!

What's really creepy is that the pop up ads are things I had been searching, like shoes, airline tickets, any subject...creeps me out!

This is totally creepy and while they say it's to help our browsing experience, I hate that someone/something is tracking my every movement.

Excellent peeve, Jezer. I suspect you'll have 100% backup on this one. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't hate pop-up ads!

Enjoy your time off.

For several weeks, I used ad-blocking software, but it caused some other problems, so I did not install it on the new PC I bought last month. I sure did enjoy the absense of those ads, though.

The only one I ever see is to block pop ups. It comes every day when I log on.
