This is a tad extreme. Clerks call people all kinds of things trying to be friendly, man shouldn't have gotten so upset...telling the clerk not to call him honey would have been good enough.

Can go one better!! My Ex Husband a total womanizer, alcoholic, pot smoking nit wit called me "DEAR" the last time I saw him. YUCK!! Why wasn't I his "DEAR" 30 plus years ago when he took off with another man's wife then married the beeeatch? I didn't correct him, just figured he was either high or drunk..as usual.

Wow, how extreme! That guy would never make it around here, everyone calls everyone else "honey" or "sweetie", especially clerks/servers. I've never been one to use the phrases but it doesn't bother me that other people do. I mean, what's the big deal? I agree with the others, this guy was apparently drunk or high and was just looking for any excuse to punch someone out.

I'm guessing he was high or drunk to have reacted so violently.
Like I said, of course his reaction was totally over the top. But that doesn't change the fact she shouldn't have kept calling him something he specifically asked her not to call him. I don't understand why, especially in a customer service situation, it's so hard to respect people's wishes.

Default Hey!

Y'all can call me "Honey" anytime! You just can't get me to eat it, cause I"m allergic.

No matter how friendly it is considered where you live, no matter where you live, it's not friendly to call someone something after they've asked you not to call them that. In other words, it might be friendly in some regions of the country to call a complete stranger "honey", but I'm sure that even where you reside, it would be considered rude to call someone anything, including "honey", after they asked you not to call them that.

Here in Tennessee at least this area it's "Sugar"... I do respect people for speaking up if it's inappropriate.
