What a strange guy. Fancy getting upset at being called Honey. I've had it said to me a few times while visiting America. I think it's a real nice, friendly term. So.....American!
That's a tad severe for such a benign phrase. There may be some psych issues there. You just don't argue with crazy. (Unless you're really bored and have all day.)
"Honey" seems to be very common these days, nothing to get worked up about.
My 89 year old mother does get irked when the waitress calls her and my brother
"you guys".....
