Good morning peevers.

I was watching a bit of news on the telly just now and the presenter said that they were going to talk to an expert on a particular subject.

For some reason that word 'expert' is a real turn off for me. (I prefer the word specialist.)

There are certain other words that also turn me off and I wondered, my fellow peevers, about your feelings.

Let us know your thoughts, be they rational or not, because the POTD is;

Words that turn you off.

Words that turn you off.

The bank called today, the check didn't clear.
Honey I'm pregnant again.
That engine noise will cost you $800.00 to fix.
The IRS called and they want to talk to you.
Sorry no raises this year.

One that is really starting to annoy me is the use of "seriously?" Seems like almost every show has one or more characters who constantly go "seriously?"

Any word that is used over and over and over and over and over and over turns me off.

Some that really annoy me are "no ta" instead of "no thanks" in English soap operas. I don't care if the knuckle draggers in this country use that phrase, or not. I don't really know. BUT USING IT IN SOAPS ENCOURAGES IDIOTS TO USE IT!!

Another is when some youngster says "no way", some idiot will reply "yes way". Gawd help us all....

Jezer, your dailies often have a humorous mix and replies already have me laughing.
