Soon my parents are celebrating their 60 years of marriage, a Diamond Anniversary. I am already thinking how special I can make this day. They are still active and love life to the fullest. I was wondering if you guys could give me any suggestions!Hope to hear from you!

I bought my parents a trip to vegas. My Mom wanted to stay at Caesar's Palace. Then they couldn't go. So I went in their place!

Save your money......

** Create a Photo-Mortgage, of their lives together. Plan a night out for them - have friends and family join in to make their night special.

Half way through dinner; play the photo mortgage, be-sure to include pictures of family and friends that will be there that night.

It's a little work, it is easy to do after you get organized. Scan approximate 100 -150 photos into your computer, edit and set-up on a time line. Separate 4 to 6 seconds between fades/transitions. Find out the music what was popular when they met (including their 1st dance at their wedding). Burn to DVD, make extra copies for friends and family....

I was a Mobile DJ 20+ years, playing many family celebrations. Every-time played a photo mortgage - we'd see every set of eyes focused on the show, hearing laughter seeing tears, people were remembering their past.

Followed with a special dance of the guests of honor (Anniversary Song by Al Jolson). Asking the children and immediately family to first join in, followed by every additional couple on the dance floor brings more years of happiness and health....

After the song since everyone is up on the dance floor - pose a group photograph.....

At the end of the evening ask them to the center of the room, have everyone join in a big circle (Friendship Circle) around them. With a microphone go round to each person, have them say something special. May sure some one is video tapping....

That tape and the photo mortgage will become priceless.....

Good Luck

We are fortunate enough to have a large yard, so we had all my parents friends and family come over, and we celebrated big time, babies and old folk alike..We had lots of chairs, good music, good food that we prepared ourselves (so we know it's the best), a cake, and a champagne glass toast to many more years for them both...They REALLY enjoyed seeing so many old friends, and it was a real pleasure to see them reminiscing with their siblings.

Coincidentally, a few days ago I received a rep point from a non-member from an old thread on this very subject! Here it is, if you want to take a look.

I've known several families that have given a cruise ship trip to either Alaska or Hawaii.
