Morning y’all
. . . . . Didja Know?
In 2007, when a Colorado woman heard about a huge dog auction in Missouri she thought she would go and
adopt a pet or two.

What she found when she arrived was a large-scale commercial breeder going out of business (‘a puppy mill’)
and it broke her heart. "The first thing that hits you," she said "is the smell. Then you are overwhelmed by the
emotion of seeing dogs live like that, in cages, frantic. These were dogs who never felt the sunshine on them."

Instead of adopting only 2 dogs, she ended up adopting 13 and that was just the start - she then founded the
nonprofit “National Mill Dog Rescue” that has since housed, rehabilitated or found homes for over 6,900 dogs.

From poodles and pugs, to cavaliers and Chihuahuas they "take immaculate care of every single dog. We don't
cherry-pick," she says. "We take everybody."

This is my son Trey on my Mama's front porch holding her little rescued chichuachua she named after me, which was my nickname when I was little... "Prissy Missy". LOL She is 8 years old and lived in a cage all her life until my Mama bought her. She is very healthy now except for the asthma, and looks fantstic. When Mama got her she was a skinny, sick little girl, afraid of everything and everyone but my Mama. Now she is well adjusted and happy! Isn't she cute?

I wish there was 100,000 more people like that Colorado woman, but the reality is that we can stop it. Adopt from shelters only and end the demand for designer dogs. Yet another example of mans' arrogance.

I only had two dogs in my life ( so far) and both came from shelters.
