I grew up in South America, so I didn't grow up celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas is a HUGE holiday
By November 15th, everybody had their Christmas trees and lights up.
I've celebrated Thanksgiving for several years already and it seems to me like all I do is sit down at my in-laws for 2-3 days waiting for somebody to say "Food is ready" and then we watch a game after that.
I decided to start putting my Christmas tree up on the 2nd week of November,
but people constantly tell me "It's not even Thanksgiving, yet"
What do you guys think?
Christmas lights - Before or after Thanksgiving?
For me, Christmas celebrations, lights, music go after Thanksgiving. When I was in Canada I would instead wait till mid-November. But since Thanksgiving in the states is after the one in Canada, I decided it was always best to give one celebration its due then go to the next. JMHO
I have been putting lights up but not turning on till this weekend. I like to take advantage of nice weather days to put them up as it is not much fun in pouring rain or snow. I remember it used to be that the Christmas stuff was out only on Black Friday and now it is the day after Halloween.

Christmas lights after Thanksgiving. Also, when I was young my Mom said no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving, now that I am no longer living to home I listen to Christmas way before Thanksgiving, to heck with waiting until after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas music.
We put them up somewhere around Thanksgiving, whenever the weather is clear and warm, and we have a few hours to do it. This year, ours went up last weekend. But, we don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving.
Never before mid-December. Christmas is in late December, I don't see the point in decorating for Christmas long before it's actually there.
