My vehicle automatically does the beep beep when I get 15 feet away from it to let me know that it's locked. I don't actually have to do anything with my remote fob other than have it with me otherwise my car wouldn't start. It is push button start.
Get out, get stuff out of trunk (so can't lock it yet) or back seat, start walking away while juggling stuff so I can hold key...as soon as key is in right spot, hit lock button.
I don't do this often, but I am explaining how it would happen for me.
Also, I don't use a key.- the car senses a fob. So I usually have to fish out the key (again, as I am walking away) to hit the lock button.

Mine too, but sometimes I push the lock button on the fob to make sure. Some vehicles allow you to change the the beep to silence if you check your owners manual.
I usually hit the lock button as I get out of the car and in case I forgot to do that, I beep a double-check as I walk away and put the keys in my purse. The beep helps to find the car when not sure sure which row the car was left in.
I always just hit the lock button on the door too.....it is a habit left over from the old days when I didn't have a key fob.
I just use the key fob to unlock the car.....or to find it when it gets lost in a parking lot.
I think it is rude to use those beep beep locks. I live in a quiet neighborhood and when someone parks in front of my house and uses the beep beep locks, I go out and tell them it is not appropriate.
I've noticed that when most people lock their car they walk 10 to 20' from the car and then you hear the "beep-beep" . Why don't they do it as soon as they get out of the car ? I seldom lock my car but I always do it right away. Has anybody else noticed this ? Just curious.
My car is so old, I have to lock it the old fashioned way. No beeps, honks or light flashes here!
