Okay, you're probably wondering, "What the heck does 'FUN WITH PANCAKES' have to do with the turkey baster in the image above?" The answer is - a lot.
You can use a turkey baster to create cool pancake shapes for yourself and your loved ones. After pre-heating your skillet or griddle, put some pancake batter into the baster. Then use it to draw the outline of your desired shape. After you complete the outline, quickly fill in the center with batter. Continue to cook as usual.
The more you practice, the better you'll get at making nifty, creative pancake shapes.
Great. Now I'm hungry.

That's an excellent idea, Pam. Mr. Bay and I are too old for Mickey Mouse or other novelty pancakes, but we might try using a turkey baster to make regular round pancakes. It might also be a neater, more precise way to put batter in the waffle iron so it doesn't ooze over the sides.
You can also use one of those thingies that bakers use for decorating cakes
Oh, you mean like a pastry bag with a metal tip? I made a big huge mess with one of those last year when I was trying to write on a Christmas cake. All the (dark green) frosting oozed out the side. I had to cover the entire top of the cake with dark green to hide the mess. I probably would have had better luck with a turkey baster!
I went there in the late sixties. Need tips on that? I got them.
Um, how about I let you know next time I see a cow in San Francisco? But thanks, Nomadicus. I never cease to be amazed at the hidden talents of our Other Topics regulars!
Hmmm... interesting tip, Pam! I didn't know the batter will fit into the small opening of turkey baster.
BTW: salad dressing or ketchup bottle (or a any squeezable bottle with a small opening) works as well, and its easier to fill.
