Hi, kids! Scroll on down for Today's Tip.
FREE PLATES!
What? Something for free? Well, kind of.
Do you ever get Asian food carry-outs in those white cardboard containers?
Did you get a free plate to eat your food on? Before you say no, consider this.
You can remove the wire handle and unfold the box. The box serves as a
plate! How cool is that?
Unfold a Chinese Takeout Box Into an Emergency Plate

Ya' know, I guess I'm just too damned set in my ways (save the cheap shot Mike...that one came to everyone's mind as soon as they read my opening comment) but if I'm going out to have dinner at a Chinese restaurant I'm gonna have it served to me on a real plate - or there's gonna be trouble. (911? HELLLLP, send der plice!!! Dere iss a gleat big clazy white guy down heya dassa fleaking owt; heesa lecking my lessalant!!!)
By the same token, if I'm getting take out it's going to be eaten back at the house on a plate as well. I think most of the locals feel this way as none of the Chinese, Japanese, Thai, etc. restaurants around here use the boxes. Since as long as I can remember (<<< here comes another cheap shot from Mike) take out has always come in aluminum foil deep dish pie plates with aluminum one side lids that are pinch held in place - it's great for keeping the heat in. The free reusable hardwood chopsticks are a nice touch too.
Something like this (I pirated the pic from one of our trade sites)
Although usually the containers are round:

That URL isn't working Pam. I only get 1/2 of a page and no photo.
The tip sounds good especially if you're picknicking in the park or similiar.

I probably wouldn't do that, I'd take the food out and put it on one of my plates and throw it away
