Happy hump day, kids! Scroll on down for Today's Tip

POSTED IN A THREAD?

A user asked me if there's an easy way to tell whether she'd ever posted in a particular thread. I addressed this in a Tip more than two years ago, but I think it bears repeating. Many users aren't aware of all the nifty features that help us navigate and participate in the forum. Here's one of them.

Look at the image below. It's from the TV forum index. See the little envelope icons at the left? Each envelope tells you whether you've ever posted in that thread. I have posted in the Big Bang Theory thread, so the envelope has a little arrow on it. Those without arrows are ones in which I've never posted.

When you look at forum indices, you'll see that some of the envelope icons are red and some are yellow. The red ones indicate "hot" threads, threads which are active with a lot of posts. The yellow envelopes are threads which haven't been posted on much in recent days.

Finally, if you see an envelope icon with an image of a lock on it, it means the thread is closed. You can still view it, but you cannot post on a closed thread.

Thanks for pointing those things out. I've known of this for a while but rarely think or remember to use it. Nice reminder and tip for those that don't know. Thanks Pam!

That's good to know. Even for those of us who have been here a while, there are still lots of things left to learn about how this board works. Thanks, Pam!

This is one of my favorite features of C-D, esp. compared with other sites I'm member of (which lack this option)-
I use this function all the time, I really appreciate it.
