Good morning peevers.
There's a slight frost out there rather than the snow that some were forecasting.
I've organised a get together for many of my colleagues tomorrow and I will be making a presentation to one of them. I also am expected to make a speech.
Seeing as all those present will be friends I don't really mind but I am trying to work out what the heck to say! It's the old dilemma of pitching it at the right level, whatever that is.
Have you been in this position? We want to know, because although this isn't really a peeve for me and I'm really looking forward to the event, it can be a peeve working out exactly what to say and then having to say it.
The POTD is;
Having to make a speech in public.

Speaking in public is something I absitively posilutely will not do!
So guess since I won't do it, it's eliminated as a peeve?

Speaking in public? Aaaaaaaggggghhhh!! I have never done it except as an assignment in a college communications class. What I remember about the course is that we were encouraged to speak slowly and clearly, use short sentences, use props and visual aids if appropriate, and don't be afraid to repeat important points for extra emphasis. If you say something just once, often people won't remember it.
I think it also helps to relax and be yourself. I know, that's easier said than done!
Why is Poppy looking at us as if to say, Who the [blank] are you, and why should I, Her Imperial Highness and Ruler of All I Survey, deign to notice an insignificant peon like yourself?
Such gorgeous landscapes!

I do give all sorts of speeches pretty often. Got used to it, and I am not very shy by nature, which helps

Public speaking , No problem. Biggest audience so far around 4,000. I had butterflies in high school but as I aged I out grew them.

Anytime I've had to speak in public, I've always found that a little humor helps everyone relax. You'll do just fine, Jezer!

I spent many years in the business arena where I had to speak in public so that doesn't bother me much at all.....you get over the creepiness of it right away when you have to do it for a living.
If the subject of your speech is something you are familiar with, it should go well....if you need help on subjects, I bet you could get some good subjects from peeps on here.
Hi Kitty....and oh my I see Molly too!
