Friends and relatives Wednesday paid their respects to Tyler Doohan, the 8-year-old upstate New York boy who helped rescue six relatives from a fire but then perished while trying to save his grandfather.
In a Mass at St. John of Rochester Catholic Church, Tyler was honored with a firefighter's funeral. The funerals of two other relatives who also died in the fire were held at the same time.

Such a heroic act by this child, but a painful end . Shows his love for the family. May the lord comfort this angel in heaven .

I just cant stop crying after reading the story . It touches my heart so deeply.

We've been talking about this quite a bit at my fire station. Although our official position is to tell people that you should never run back into a burning house, that boy was a hero and deserved a firefighters funeral.

What guts the little guy had... how many people would do what he did? RIP Tyler.
