Hello, kids! Scroll on down for Today's Tip.

PREVENT OLIVE OIL DRIPS

Do you cook with olive oil? Sometimes, it seems impossible to pour olive oil from the bottle without having at least a little bit run down the side of the bottle. Here's an easy way to keep the outside of your oil bottle from becoming greasy and hard to hold onto.

Take a paper towel and fold it a few times to make a strip. Then secure the paper towel strip around the neck of the bottle with a rubber band, just under the opening. With the strip in place, if a little oil drips as you pour, the paper will absorb it before it can run down the side and make an oily mess.

Nice tip Pam, though I have a lovely decanter for olive oil.

I could use that tip for when I fill the decanter itself up.

Good tip, Pammy!! Same with wine and juice bottles.

Some of my oil bottles come with a foil closure over the bottle opening.
Instead to take it off, I just punch a small hole in it, to better control the amount when pouring.
This method also eliminate drippings.

You can also try to screw on this kind of plastic tip/cap - it fits well on may bottles. (also water bottles)

Thanks Pam. I will have to do that. I also keep a lid from an old butter container underneath my Olive Oil bottle in the cabinet.

Great tip Pam thanks!! I don't use much oil but when I do I'll try this little trick, it's very aggravating when it drips down the side of the bottle and gets all greasy, yuck!

There is a technique of turning a bottle as you end the flow that stops dripping ketchup and salad dressing bottles. Maybe olive oil is too thin for that?

Great tip PJ! And yours, too, EL!

Now, do you have one for getting up all of the oil when the bottle's been accidentally knocked over and spilled out in your cabinet??? It's a real PITA to try to get it all soaked up, I tell ya!!! Don't think it's still all up after all of this time!

Good tips Pam & elnina. I'm going to try that on my bottle of beer, maybe I can save a drop or two.
